Namami completed her M.Tech in Electronics Design and Technology. She completed her Ph.D. from IIT Guwahati in 2019.

Job Description:

The candidate will have to:

  • A ‘Lead / Principal engineer, System engineering’ is expected to convert technologies to fully functioning, robust and reliable products. S/he is expected to act on possibly vague requirements and generate specific product ideas from the same, work with a cross functional team to execute these ideas, identify and take steps to mitigate major risks and manage new product development through all design stages till start of production. For products already launched in the market s/he shall work towards ensuring fast resolution of issues if any and make design modifications to ensure low failure rates. In all situations, s/he shall participate in hands-on development and de-risking as and when required.
  • S/he shall contribute towards adhering, identifying and developing tools and processes like automated testing, verification via simulation, HIL testing etc. towards improving effectiveness.
  • A person in this role shall act as a single point of contact for customers (internal and external) for technical issues pertaining to a project and shall develop good connect with all stakeholders.
  • While leading such (possibly several) projects s/he shall mentor and manage teams as and when required.

Work responsibilities:

  • Day to day activities typically include understanding the mechanisms (physics/chemistry) governing products under study (engines, motors), design and/or modification of control schemes for products along with implementation in a model based framework, proof-of-concept demonstrations of product/feature ideas using SEDEMAC ECUs or rapid control prototyping tools, conducting studies/experiments in the lab during product/feature/control-strategy development as well as during failure analysis, processing data received from internal/external experiments using tools such as MATLAB/Python/Octave, figuring out the root cause for failures (internal as well as field)
  • Identification and documentation of system requirements, interfacing with internal hardware, software, product support and sourcing teams as well as external vendors during product/feature development, developing validation plans and ensuring execution thereof, managing project timelines
  • Weekly/monthly activities include engaging with the customer during various phases of a project (including handling of field failures), development of tools required across products (data processing tools for instance), representing SEDEMAC in various conferences/fora/trade shows, technical/process certifications/trainings, conducting trainings/work-shops for internal teams.
  • Quarterly/yearly activities include updating processes used in system engineering, deployment of advanced testing methods (like automated testing), hiring team members as per need.

Desired technical skills:

  • Strong command over engineering physics and mathematics along with enthusiasm for potentially cross-domain ideas (mechanical, electrical etc.).
  • Familiarity with tools like MATLAB/Python/NI-Labview.
  • Experience with new product development.
